The Nico Rosberg curse has now been confirmed by an unlikely source - McLaren.

The British squad posted an amusing image from the paddock at the Belgian Grand Prix, begging the 2016 world champion not to come anywhere near their garage.

Fans have long suggested that Rosberg may have magical powers, with selfies he takes in the paddock often coinciding with bad luck.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix last time out, the German set his Instagram account ablaze with two brilliantly chosen photos.

Taking a shot outside of Max Verstappen’s garage ahead of qualifying, fans began talking up the Rosberg curse, and then the Dutchman failed to take pole position for the first time in six races.

Lewis Hamilton instead surprisingly topped the timesheets, but then on Sunday ahead of the race, Rosberg posted another selfie in front of his No.44 Mercedes.

There were suggestions Rosberg knew he was cursing his old rival, who then went on to finish fourth in Budapest, convincing many supporters the curse was real.

It turns out that McLaren’s social media admin is one of the converted, as they put up a poster outside their garage warning the former champion away.

The image read, ‘NO ROSBERG SELFIES’ and they captioned the post by writing: “Gotta do what you gotta do!

"Sorry, @nicorosberg, but we can’t risk your jinxing powers!”

McLaren’s luck didn’t quite work out during Friday’s qualifying session though.

Oscar Piastri finished in sixth spot - one place ahead of teammate Lando Norris - a drop from their top three heroics in the past two races.
