An Australian star of explicit videos has quit the adult industry so she can find a “high value man”.

Megan James, who runs the highly successful OnlyFans page The Chaos Of Her, shared a lengthy post explaining why she will no longer appear in adult content.

In her bombshell announcement, the Melbourne woman also claimed porn is “100 per cent affecting even the healthiest relationships”, stating she was no longer comfortable being the girl “boyfriends subscribed to”.

“The end of an era. My creativity, my confidence, my sensuality, my connection to myself, my happiness & my bank account thrived,” James wrote in a post shared to Instagram Stories.

“But I learned a few things in the last few months that have meant this avenue of money flow no longer aligns with the vision I have for who I want to be.”

James went on to explain she wanted to pursue a relationship with a “high value man” and was concerned about “the effect this type of work” would have on a partnership.

“In no way am I shaming the OF girls, the industry wouldn’t exist without demand and [sex work] is one of the oldest professions, it’s not going anywhere,” she continued.

“Previously, porn was a fantasy, a girl you would never meet... now these are every day girls, they’re girls like me who you can bump into at the beach, a cafe, in a supermarket.

“Even if you are the most open minded person, which I am, this is 100 per cent affecting the healthiest relationships.”

The online sex worker, who has 39,000 followers on Instagram, claimed porn “interferes with your neurological pleasure pathways,” adding the more “hyper sexualised content you consume, the less you will be aroused by regular intimacy”.

“I don’t want that for my future daughter, I don’t want to contribute to that,” she said.

“I also want a very specific type of partner, a high value man, and well, he doesn’t want a wife the whole world has access to.”

But as James embarks on her new life without OnlyFans, it seems fans are divided by the change of heart.

“That’s awesome,” one commented on a post, shared by Influencer Updates AU.

“This is exactly the type of situation in which quiet quitting is acceptable,” someone else remarked.

As one wrote: “I get what she’s saying. It’s a tough industry and not one for the weak. It’s a job that has its own stress and complexities. Sometimes the money is just not worth what it does to your inner peace.”

Studies have shown extended exposure to pornography correlates with less activity in the brain’s reward circuit.

More Coverage

Research from a Neuroscience of Internet Pornography Addiction report indicates pornography impacts the brain much like an addictive drug by triggering ever-increasing amounts of dopamine.

Over time, the brain builds up a tolerance to the excess dopamine and requires either more access or more extreme content (or sometimes both) to achieve that same level of perceived pleasure.

The same study also determined that watching pornography rewires the brain and can negatively impact relationships.
